With less than two months to go until Christmas, the countdown is on. There is always so much to do, but I quite like to keep it simple. I also think that Christmas is one of those times that people spend way to much money and don't think enough about the gifts they are buying. I am going to be supporting the handmade community and as much as possible choose unique, fabulous, handmade gifts.

DUST CRAFT SWAP

The wonderful Australia Etsy Team called DUST has a craft swap every second month. It is such a great way to meet new members and for us to swap our crafts. Recently our team suffered a huge loss when our much loved Team Leader and Craft Swap Organiser Julie-ann was tragically killed in a plane crash with her daughter Jacinda. This is the first swap we have done since loosing her but we wanted to carry it on in her honour.

I was partnered with Kylie from Hippie House Dolls. I have loved her work for a long time and am in awe of the exquisite dolls she creates.

Now this was Kylies first craft swap and I think she spoilt me a lot -

Her gifts were just so special.

Firstly let me introduce you to DUSTY-ANN

I don't think I can begin to describe the detail in this very special doll. She was named in honour of Julie-Ann and has her own little birth certificate.

Strawberry Pink Hair, Emerald Green Eyes, Green Frock with Lace trim, Funky Heart pattern pants, Exquisite felt embroidered Mary-jane shoes and polka dot underpants.

The work in this doll is amazing.

Now as if that wasn't enough, Kylie has made two smaller dolls for my daughters.

They are 100% wool felt, stuffed with wool and have banana fibre hair, which is just so textured and shiny. Their little dresses have embroidered flowers and they even have little underpants too.

My girls just adore them and have named them

Lilly-ann and Sally-ann

Dusty-Ann also has a change of clothes

Kylie's talents are seemingly never ending as when she found out that it was my birthday on the 15th she also made me Birthday Teddy Bear!! How amazing is he.

All these very special items will be treasured forever and thank you very much for your very generous and thoughtful craft swap gifts Kylie.

I was feeling really bad that I hadn't done the "regular" Wednesday Junk Love post. But I just had a look through the list of our other Junk Love bloggers and it seems they have been just as slack.

My "Junk Loving" friends would all know how exciting it is when your suburb has "bulk verge waste collection". It is just amazing the things that people will throw away.

Needless to say , we are in the middle of a bulk waste pick up and on the weekend I stopped to pick up an old suitcase and found some other treasures on the pile too.

Funky Green Everlite huge case that first caught my eye.

An Imperial 200 portable typewriter, in it's case, in fabulous condition and get this....has it's original instruction booklet!!

A Hawkins Quicker Pressure Cooker Pot, in perfect condition for it's age and......also had it's original instruction booklet with recipes and warranty card inside. We cooked up some of our homegrown potatoes to try it out - it works!

Yesterday was my birthday!

I got lots of lovely cards.

Mum made me this

spectacular cake which was as yummy as it looks.

An awesome Heart teapot from hubby as well as the lazy susan it is sitting on , made by him .

One of my dearest friends gave me the most beautifully perfumed rose plant "angel face".

Coupons from the kids including a "free carwash", which I cashed in as it was only valid for my birthday.

Mum in law made a stunning quilt which I am yet to take photos of...stay tuned.

Plus I went out for lunch with the family - so all in all a fabulous birthday.

One YeaR ON and I stick by this list.

It's My Birthday Month

It is that time of year. My Birthday Month!! Honestly this year has just whizzed by. There has been a lot happening , good and bad , and my blogging has certainly taken a back seat.

This is our doggy!! Today he went to the vet and is feeling a little bit sore. The girls picked out a nice Purple bandage for his foot. "If dogs could talk".

There have been markets, and thankfully nice weather.

It is now school holidays so the family and I are packing up the camper and getting away for a few days.

Chat to you all when we get back all refreshed ready to tackle the final term and the Silly Season.

Today I took the opportunity to do a photoshoot with my niece. She is only visiting for a few days, and just the cutest little model for my animal hats.

So the sun was shining the camera ready, but little Miss Model decided that she was not really in a hat wearing mood.

Really, has it been that long since I sat down and wrote something, anything ? Guess it has. I must have just fallen out of the Blogosphere (if that is a word, let's just say it is) for a while, but here I am back again.

So what's been happening . It is coming into winter so I am thinking now must be my time! Time to make some sales, after all I have lots of nice things to keep you warm. I am struggling a bit with the whole "small fish - big pond" syndrome. It is hard to get noticed, really hard, but I will persevere . I found my old blanket

Many years ago my gran taught me how to crochet. This skill was buried under the pile of day to day life for many years and I have only recently begun to take up the craft again. Now all those years ago this is what I made - I had actually forgotten all about it and then while searching in my old trunk there it was, sitting in the bottom. I would have been about 12 I think, when I made this - I can't believe it myself!! I have fallen in love with it all over again.

But wait, there is more. While digging around in that old trunk I found this wonderful knitted blanket. It was made and given to me by my husbands Nan not long before she passed away. I think it is time to give it an airing and so will leave it out on display on the couch .

I use these all the time - they are great to hang in the shower and then just rub a little soap onto them to clean your face. Also great for make-up removal - then just pop them into the washing machine.

I am so pleased with myself as last week I tackled the massive task of dusting and rearranging all my teapots, and cleaning down the pelmets that they sit on. I made myself a deal a while back that I would not buy any more teapots unless I got rid of one - due to lack of space!! Well I cheated a little and bought some more recently and with a little rearranging managed to squeeze them in.....shhhhhhh.

I used to be very good and have a weekly T42, where I would dust off a few of my teapots and share them with you. It has been a while but I am hoping to be a little more disciplined and start dusting again!!

This pot didn't need dusting off as it is one that gets used quite a bit. It's a Churchill from the Georgian Collection. I thought I would start off with it just to get me back into the swing of it.

Creative ideas evolve from the most unlikely places.

This one has come about from my daughters upcoming birthday party.

The theme has been set....Circus!!! and from there the ideas flowed.

Party flag bunting is a great way to set the mood for all sorts of occasions - and this is no exception.

With the red and white theme colours in mind I created about 20metres of bunting to be strung around the backyard.

Pom-poms have been glued to the party hats

Popcorn containers are ready

But the thing is , I had so much fun making the flag bunting that I decided to do some more.

And I have more flags ready, and fabric that would look fabulous hanging in bedrooms, party rooms, playrooms.....so you see, I think this might just be my new passion - there is always room for one more!

Today I was in need of getting into My Creative Space....it seems so long since I have made anything...anything at all. Now sewing is not really my thing but as I have an overlocker and machine and a need for some comfy summer skirts I thought I would give it a go.

We are all so busy this time of year. Why is it that everyone wants to catch up in December? We just cruise along for the rest of the year and then all of a sudden it is a social frenzy . So with all the socialising, the christmas pressie buying, keeping creative, doing markets, keeping up with the kids....blah, blah, blah...Its exhausting!!

I am envious of so many blogs out there that have inspirational posts, gorgeous pictures, awesome tutorials and I aspire to be like one of those ....one day! So thankyou to all my readers that hang in there with me, despite my short, unsubstantial posts. I will try to do better next year.

They are just so pretty, feminine, romantic, and smell beautiful.

Today I have been making some fabric roses that can be worn in your hair or as a brooch.

They are going to look gorgeous at my market stall next week.

Junk Love - I am back!!!

My little" junk love club" may think that I have deserted them, but don't fear - I have been still loving junk.

At the moment it is verge junk collection in our town ,and to most people it just looks like junk, but not to me!! I love picking things up that people have no use for.

This box of old glass light fittings just might get a make-over for Christmas. I think with a candle inside and some decoration they will look great on the outside table!

I also picked up an assortment of wire stands, I am guessing they were plant stands but I have other ideas!

This one is nice and solid and has 3 baskets. It was covered in cracked white plastic but I blasted that off with a high pressure water cleaner and today gave it a coat of black spray paint.

So the rusty old verge junk is now my brand new market display! I am still thinking of an idea to line the baskets with, but perhaps just some black fabric.

And this stand has been made from the base of an old stool or tall table - it was pretty shabby. So I unscrewed the top and painted it black , then got some ply wood to make shelves.

I am in the process of doing a mock set up of my market for next week to see how these display ideas will look.

With the big school music production all done and dusted I need to focus on my 3 day market next week!! I am seriously behind with this but don't want my stall to look "thrown together".

The Dynamics have changed since my last market as I have lots more crochet work. I have funky hats and slippers but I don't want my stall to look "nanna-ish"!!!

So today I plan to sit down and draw how I would like it to look and then try to action this plan.

I think for a start I need to find a hat stand!!

Also I need some way to hang up my banner, as it is an indoor market so no canopy.

I need to learn how to make use of small spaces!

But most of all

I NEED HELP.

When I took on the job of costume co-ordinator for our school musical production - Sheik, Rattle n Roll , I had no idea of what was ahead of me.

There are about 130 kids involved and we are on the count down to opening night.

20 days to go.

Along the way I have found new skills and refined old ones.

All in all it has been a great learning curve and I can't wait to see it all on stage.

Today I got the hang of roll hemming on an overlocker on these satin headscarves.

I haven't done a JunkLove post for ages now. That is not to say that I haven't been loving my Junk, I have just felt a bit time poor .

Today I decided to try the Record Bowl project that I have been wanting to do for a while. So with some old Records in hand I went to work.

And here they are!

I need to find tune the art of getting the shape I want , but the irregular style looks pretty funky anyhow, don't you think?

Kids Colourful Weaving

Last week in school my youngest girl did some wonderful weaving. They were encouraged to add lots of texture and make it nice and tactile.

Over the weekend the girls did their own weaving.

Change of direction....

Well we are at the end of the school holidays. It has been wet and chilly weather, but that has been perfect for lots of indoor crafting. My crafting has taken an unusual change in direction - known for my fabulous resin jewellery creations , now I am crocheting up a storm.

For a start, resin and winter do not mix well. And resin and I are having some issues too - my allergy to the product has caused me to keep away from it, but I am enjoying the challenges of a new craft. So Del-icious Designz is taking a new direction and I will be stocking fun crochet items in my store. There is still lots of resin jewellery in store ,and some in stock here until all sold out but there will be nothing new made in that direction.

These sweet little hearts could turn up in many creations.

Well this week I have been finishing of my craft-swap items for Penny, who has a fabulous etsy shop PENNY FARROW DESIGNS where she sells handmade leather accessories. I can't show you photos of that though as it will spoil the surprise for Penny.

She is travelling around the lower end of Australia with her husband and another couple . Liz, Samara (Maddabling) and I got together for a lovely lunch. Samara got to see Liz one more time before she headed out of town, and she was very naughty and gave Samara and I some lovely button jewellery - You can see Samaras HERE.

Junk Love - A little makeover

Over the weekend I decided to have a go at making our small backdoor area look a little bit more inviting. It is hard to make an area that has the dogs kennel, shoe bucket, clothes line and toys look very good - But with a splash of colour a tidy up and rearranging a few things , it is now alot nicer.

This is not a true before photo - as it has had all the junk removed already -

but you get the idea

A nice bright splash of aqua on the walls, some grey on the floor and on the dogs kennel.

The other half of the area is not in view as I still need to paint the back door and might see if I can thrift a little table over the weekend - perhaps a nice bright pot plant or two.

THE ART EXCHANGE EVENT - Do you want to join in?

Well earlier in the week I received an email asking if I would like to join the

ART EXCHANGE EVENT.

How it works is you make one crafty item - be it hand sewn, knitted, drawn...whatever as long as it is hand made by you. You send that item to the person on the top of the list, you then add your name to the bottom and ask 6 friends to participate to keep the art exchange rolling. You should send your item within 7 days and then if everyone plays fair you should receive 36 hand crafted items in your mailbox...Very cool hey.

So what did I find over the weekend to share with you this week...

Well, tucked away on the floor behind some other junk at a garage sale, I spied this beauty.

It is only the highly collectable "perfect teapot" by Robur tea company. It needs a really good polish up but I think it has to be my "find of the year" - I was so stoked.

I also picked up these few craft books, which are full of lots of great projects.

Junk Love

So as promised yesterday, I am back with my Junk Love. I popped into the thrift shop after dropping off a bag of old clothes and this is what jumped into my hands.

This little guy just had one of those faces that once you have picked him up, you just couldn't leave him behind. He is handmade and has lots of gorgeous embroidery stitches all over and matches in well to my lounge room. He is really quiet and you would barely know he was there. Shhhhh.

Then I passed by this little dish - How could I resist ?

And lastly this silver basket is just perfect for putting all those little bits and pieces in next to my lounge chair. It was quite tarnished but I polished it up nicely.

And today in the post arrived the first edition on the Spoonful Zine - I am yet to read it, but it is something to look forward to later today.

So here I am checking emails etc and it dawned on me - it is Wednesday! Which means I need to do my Junk Love . So what do I have for you this week?

Well, I do not have Before Photos of this project - but just imagine your old grey high school lockers.

These were actually from my old school so they have a little bit of sentimental value too. They were being thrown away to make way for the new ones.

They have been given some colour and stencilled shapes, and are now the perfect girls room storage solution.

Being metal they have the added bonus of being magnetic, so easy to put pictures up , inside and out.

The Shape-O

I do not believe that any of my readers would not own any tupperware. It is iconic, funky, practical solution to storage. Alot of us have way too much tupperware and hence are "tupperware junkies". If you are a tupperware junkie then you would know all too well about the "tupperslide"...this is infact a term I made up but you would have experienced it. Reaching into the cupboard to find a container, which is nestled among several others, you get hold of it and try to carefully bring it out, only to find that the rest of the tupperware has toppled over and done a big "tupperslide" onto the floor!!!! Ahhhh the joys of tupperware.

Well it just so happens that I am an ex-dealer of tupperware and have quite a few keychains and little gift items , which are excessive to my needs....sooooooooooo, I thought how about a giveaway.
