Baby Booties....Converse style

We all love Converse right.  The shoe that has been around for many generations and is quite ok for Mum, Dad and kids to wear.  Coolness for the whole family.

Hula Hoop Floor Rug

I recently stumbled upon a great project on Spoonful .  It was the Hula Hoop Floor Rug and looked like a great project for kids to do.  My little Miss 12 rose to the challenge and before long she was weaving her little heart out and creating a gorgeous colourful rug for her room.

 

After reading alot of comments and feedback from this project on the tutorial, my advice would be . Do not weave too tightly.  If you do this the end result will have curled up edges and it will look more like a large bowl than a flat rug.

I also expected that it would produce a larger rug than it did , but still it is a good size for dressing table or bathroom mat.

So after lots of weaving in and out, in and out, round and round, it was ready to be cut free from the hoop. And the result is this.

Blooming Flower Cushion and Crochet Floor Rug

 Today I would love to show you my finished "Blooming Flower" cushion which is one of the popular projects from Attic 24 blog .  This has been one of my "on the go" projects for a while, usually there are about half a dozen things "on the go" so to get one finished is Awesome!!

I also have a few floor mats "on the go" too.  They are my latest obsession .  My first one I made using old t-shirts but found that I needed about 7 t-shirts for one mat.  And as the family was getting a little nervous about their t-shirts going missing I had to find an alternative.
Luckily I have a huge fabric stash and was recently given a lot ,of which I would never be able to sew up into anything wearable, so guilt free fabric cutting began.

Firstly I was just using the stretch fabric as it formed into yarn really nicely, but after a bit of experimenting I found I could really use any sort of fabric (the softer the better though). 

  So this cream and black one is made out of stretch, and used up around 3 metres of fabric.

 Traditionally the rag rugs were made using cottons so I thought I would see how it worked up .  So far so good, nice and thick and surprisingly quite soft.

Let my new obsession have no limits.................

The Goddess Shawl

Happy Monday World.  I hope it has started off well for you all.

One of my constant battles is making really nice things and wanting to keep them all for myself.  I am usually pretty good but lately I have been trying a few new patterns and making things to spoil myself.   The rainbow pixie hooded infinity scarf that I showed you last week (if you missed it Click Here), is one that I really have to keep .

But today I want to show you a Shawl that was a bit of a challenge for me but overall I am very happy with the result.  The pattern can be found here GODDESS SHAWL.  I was a little put off by the comments made by people who had tried this pattern as there seemed to be a few errors and a bit of confusion on a few of the rows.  Overall however it worked out quite true to the pattern for me,  but it did make me think and work hard.

Mine does seem to be alot fuller than the original pattern photo but perhaps it was the type of yarn I used.  It is fine though as if I want to I can bunch up the extra fullness towards the front and have it kind of like a scarf.

I'm Back.

Hellllllooooooo World.  If anyone is still out there then thanks for sticking around.  I have not blogged for a very long time , infact nearly a year, which I find hard to believe but it's true.  The dates don't lie.

So I guess I just got to a point where offline creating was more fun than online networking but I also love to share what I have been doing.  So time to share.  After all Sharing is Caring.

Its all about colour

 How funky are these hats?  I love the rainbow colours, they are so addictive and you can't help but be happy looking at them.  Nice and lightweight which makes them perfect for the inbetween seasons.

 I am loving how this one turned out.  It is a pixie hoodie with an infinity scarf.  Colourful, functional and so adorable.   I can not get enough of Rainbows.  

So the plan is to pop back here every week to show you what I am making or have made.  I usually have about 6 things on the go at once so there is always something to show.

Last Day - Blogtober - Halloween

Happy Halloween Everyone!!

You know , it's that crazy day of the year, that nobody really understands however the kids get excited because it is all about dress ups and lollies.

I love that is very theatrical and you must admit the pumpkins looks pretty funky.

Just not sure what all the spooky , creepiness is all about.

I have been having a bit of creative block lately!  Hence the reason I have not shown you much of what I have made lately.  Life got a little crazy for a few months, and with me staying full time in hospital with my little girl , my priorities were shifted and it is taking me a while to get back on track.  My creative outlet though is something I love to do, and it is a big part of who I am , so when you get stuck and are just not sure what direction you want to take ( or what to even make) it is hard.

So yesterday, I grabbed my hook and yarn with no real plan on what I was going to make - I just needed to make something!  And despite my lack of direction, pattern or ideas I am pretty pleased with what I made.  It needs a little finishing off so I will show you on I MADE IT MONDAY..

It's official - I am a Blogtober Fail.  I just can't keep up the pace of everyday blogging, and I can admit it.

The Maddabling Photo Challenge had its last day today and like all photo challenges it was good fun.  With such an unusual list of photo subjects it left it wide open for interpretation.

Day 11 - Tea and Sympathy.

My photo is comprised of one of my lovely birthday cards and a selection of teas,  with a paper people chain made by my youngest daughter, which randomly was made from the death notices.  

So I thought it fitting to share with you for T42.

Rock-tober Party

Firstly, Sorry for slipping a little this week with my Blogtober Challenge.  I have taken on the photo challenge as well as blogging challenge, and must say I am just not disciplined enough .  

Last night hubby and I went to a good friends 40th birthday party.  The theme was Rock Gods, Groupies and Roadies, which left it pretty wide open to interpretation .  At the party you could spot, Michael Jackson, Ozzy Osbourne, Cindy Lauper, Tina Turner, Gene Simmons, Jake Blues, Chrissi Amphlet, Stevie Nicks, Elvis, Johnny Cash, The Boss and lots of rock groupies .....It made for a fun night.

So I was a little undecided as to who to go as.  Blondie was an option but as I kept adding things to my outfit I just decided I was a Rock Groupie (A pretty scary one though, could barely look at myself in the mirror)

My good friend Samara of Maddabling fame, came over to do some dramatic eye make-up and finish off my hair chalking (pause for a moment).......

Hair Chalking -  Have you heard of this?  If not, it is so cool.  I bought some recently for my girls as an easy way to add a bit of colour and it really is pretty fun.

Junk Love - Blogtober

Calling all JUNK LOVERS!  Are you the kind of person who doesn 't see junk, but sees something just waiting to be transformed then show us what you have done.  The JUNK LOVE CLUB has gone pretty quiet over the last few months and I didn't want to see it disappear.  So with permission from Emma who began the club , I have now taken it on and looking for members.  
Each Wednesday we come together to show each other what we have found, made, completed....and just share the Junk Love.

 Did you guess the right colour - It had to be Pink, didn't it.

 Now at first i was going to remove the baby seat but then on second thought decided that it would be a pretty handy spot to put some plants.  It doesn't look fabulous just yet, but when those lavenders grow up and are in full pink/purple bloom it will.

 An old wire hanging basket (which has actually been used as a fairy mobile before this , but had run it's course) it attached to the handlebars and lined with paperbark.  Potted up with daisies, lavender, geraniums to name a few, it is going to be a gorgeous splash of colour soon.

 And here it sits, against the fence amongst the rose bushes.  I love it.
