This is my birthday month and in 11 days it will be here. As you get older , birthdays don't seem to be such a big deal. The excitement you had as a child fades slowly over the years and if you get your hopes up too much it usually ends up in disappointment.
So I have come to the point where I expect nothing and get pleasantly surprised if I get more than that.
But the fun I have is making up a list of all the wonderful things I would like to have.
Losing a pet is really hard. They become such a big part of your family and for most of us we get a dog or cat before we have our children. It is kind of like, a test of your responsibility. Obviously kids take a lot more work but you know what I mean.
Earlier this year our beloved dog Thor passed away. He really was just a lovely gentle natured dog. Our girls grew up with him and he was nearly 15. Needless to say he left a big void in our lives.
We hadn't planned on jumping in to get another dog in a hurry but an opportunity came along to give a home to a rescue dog. She was rescued from the pound and staying with a foster carer, but she was also pregnant!
Can you guess where this story is going?
Many weeks later eight little puppies arrived! They were all still in foster care but have now all found loving homes. We have taken on the care of the rescue dog - her name is Pippa , and one of her adorable little puppies.
Sometimes things just work out, the timing might not always seems right, but in the end time doesn't wait for us.
Our new additions arrived last Thursday , just in time for school holidays - perfect!!
Intro to Blogtoberfest as written by I Saw You Dancing........ Welcome to Blogtoberfest 2012! Blogtoberfest is an annual blogging festival and a wonderful opportunity to: * challenge yourself to blog every day for 31 days * discover kindred blogging spirits * carve out a tiny slice of time each day to write and to read * share any creative projects you have on the go * host a giveaway, if you feel inclined to spread the love This year, Blogtoberfest is being hosted by I Saw You Dancing. This will be your HQ for creative prompts, insights and inspiration from guest bloggers, and quotes to get you thinking. Be sure to check in every day during the month, fill up your creative well, and let us know how you're travelling. I think this is the kick start I need to get my blog going again. I have been absent from my blog for 3 months but there has been a lot going on and my attention just had to be focused elsewhere for a while. Promise to myself and to you...... I will complete the Blogtoberfest challenge and although I have come in a day late I will check in here every day for the rest of the month. There are 247 bloggers taking part! I am sure i will not get around to visiting all of these blogs but it is great to see so many people jumping on board. Until tomorrow
The one thing in my youngest daughters room that looked out of place was her chair. The rest of her room is adorned with bright colours, wonderful artwork, flag bunting the list goes on, but her chair was , well, drab. I didn't actually take a photo of the chair before its makeover (which I should have) but have found a photo of one that is pretty similar to how it looked, but mine was a darker blue and really worn and faded. This chair also had the misfortune of being in the way of a projectile vomit recently so was taken outside and hosed off where it stayed for a few weeks. It needed a makeover!!!
So after pulling it all apart , removing the old fabric and working my magic on it you would not recognise it as the same chair. Now it fits into her room beautifully.
My blog as usual has been very quiet. Only when I think I have something worth saying or showing you do I pop in here. So today I have something to say.
My online crafty friend Jess has set up a Beanie Drive and is looking for crafty types who could donate to the cause.

Well I saw the thing comin' out of the sky It had the one long horn, one big eye I commenced to shakin' and I said "ooh-eee" It looks like a purple eater to me
It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater (One-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater) A one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater Sure looks strange to me (One eye?)
Well he came down to earth and he lit in a tree I said Mr. Purple People Eater, don't eat me I heard him say in a voice so gruff I wouldn't eat you cuz you're so tough
It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater One-eyed, one-horned flyin' purple people eater One-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater Sure looks strange to me (One horn?)
I said Mr. Purple People Eater, what's your line He said it's eatin' purple people and it sure is fine But that's not the reason that I came to land I wanna get a job in a rock and roll band
Well bless my soul, rock and roll, flyin' purple people eater Pigeon-toed, undergrowed, flyin' purple people eater (We wear short shorts) Flyin' purple people eater Sure looks strange to me
And then he swung from the tree and he lit on the ground He started to rock, really rockin' around It was a crazy ditty with a swingin' tune Sing a boop boop aboopa lopa lum bam boom
Well bless my soul, rock and roll, flyin' purple people eater Pigeon-toed, undergrowed, flyin' purple people eater I like short shorts Flyin' little people eater Sure looks strange to me (Purple People?)
And then he went on his way, and then what do ya know I saw him last night on a TV show He was blowing it out, a'really knockin' em dead Playin' rock and roll music through the horn in his head
One of my childhood memories is snuggling up in front of the little black and white spare tv with my brother watching Dr Who. We had a crochet blanket (probably more me than my brother) and I would watch it through the blanket holes, as those monsters were pretty scary you know.
So my latest creation combines my childhood Dr Who memories, My love of teapots and crochet.
